NAM Poll Discloses Haitian Americans’ Concerns About Haiti’s Capability to Lead Recovery; Many Are Willing to Return Home to Help Rebuild

WHAT:
Join New York’s leading Haitian ethnic media and advocacy organizations for a discussion of a new poll by New America Media examining Haitian American views on the response to the earthquake. The poll looks at concern over how international aid funds will be managed; the future of Haiti as a self-governing state; and the extent of loss of life among friends and relatives. Among the poll’s findings: 78 percent of Haitian adults in the U.S. have contributed an average of $75 to help earthquake victims; 62 percent said they are willing to adopt or foster a Haitian child orphaned by the earthquake.
