MEXICO CITY--The archbishop of the Antiochian Orthodox Catholic Church, Antonio Chedraoui, told his congregation that Mexicans can't walk or eat safely in the streets of Mexico, El Universal reports. During an Easter mass in Mexico City, he called for unity in the country and lamented “the innocents who for no reason are dying every day in all Mexico” when they get caught in the crossfire between police and drug cartels.

"I hope we cease being like animals," he said, "who in some cases are superior to human beings, who today are so far from civilized. Has man become a savage animal without laws, respect or love?"
