MIAMI -- The majority of U.S. Latinos oppose the new Arizona immigration law SB 1070, and believe that undocumented immigrants are a benefit, not a burden, to the country, according to a poll released Thursday by Univision and the Associated Press. The majority of Latinos interviewed also said that Congress should pass immigration reform. The findings, however, contrast with the responses of non-Latinos. Sixty percent of non-Latinos polled said they believe immigrants are a burden on society and 61 percent said the Arizona police should have more powers to detain undocumented immigrants. Sixty-seven percent of Latinos said they oppose the Arizona law, compared to only 20 percent of non-Latinos.
