Imagine a not too distant future when China has taken over the United States. The US is not indebted to China, but has rather been invaded by China. Chinese soldiers with guns on Californian streets; San Francisco segregated into militarizes zones; a pass is needed to go through the Van Ness gate; American families scrounging for scraps while bureaucrats from Beijing spend lavishly on R&R. That’s the story of the play Beijing, California, which is currently having it's world premiere at the Asian American theater company in San Francisco and joining New America Now is Duy Nguyen helped develop the story with playwright Paul Heller.
