LOS ANGELES--Korean-style tacos are the latest creation to come out of the emerging culinary phenomenon known “Korexican,” which blends the spicy and pungent flavors of Korean cuisine with traditional Mexican cooking. According to the Korea Daily in Los Angeles, the Galbi Taco's popularity has led to the planned launch of several stands across the city and on college campuses, including USC and UCLA. The dish, which consists of beef ribs marinated in a Korean-style sauce in a taco shell filled with guacamole and beans, reflects the growing coziness between these two otherwise disparate communities in a city where Spanish-speaking Korean shopowners are almost as common as out-of-work actors. Other popular Latin-Asian food chains include LA FuXion, which serves barbecued meat with kimchi, a spicy Korean side dish most often made with cabbage, along with salsa and other vegetables wrapped in a tortilla.
