A Univision-Associated Press poll finds that many English-speaking Latinos are turning to Spanish-language TV and radio for news, sports and entertainment coverage, and the cultural connection it provides. The continuing popularity of Spanish-language media has spurred an increase in Spanish language marketing to reach consumers and potential voters, even as many cities and states consider English-only policies.

The poll found that 90 percent of Spanish-dominant Latinos watch Spanish-language TV and roughly 75 percent listen to Spanish radio. Among English-dominant Latinos, about four in 10 said they turned to either Spanish TV or Spanish radio for news, entertainment and sports. About 35 percent of English speaking Latinos said they believe English-language media portrays Latinos in a negative light. The poll surveyed 1,521 Latinos in English and Spanish.
