 DEARBORN, Mich—Virg Bernero, Democratic Gubernatorial nominee for Michigan and imcumbent mayor of Lansing, has made a strong effort to reach out to the Arab American community, reports the Arab American News, and with elections just a few weeks away, is winning their support.

At a recent fundraiser in Dearborn, titled “Arab Americans for Bernero,” the candidate discussed his plans regarding the state's the economy, immigration policies, and listened to concerns from the Arab American community.

According to the report, Bernero has gained support from community leaders as Michigan Civil Rights Commissioner Nabih Ayad, Ismael Ahmed, a co-founder of the Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services and Director of the Michigan Department of Human Services, and, Osama Siblani Spokesman for AAPAC Arab American Political Action Committee, as well as local state rep. Rashida Tlaib (D)

Siblani said Bernero "is a friend of this community...he needs your support, and now we need to stand by our friends and believe in them."
