Fresno - Young artists to unveil new West Fresno mural on Saturday, Dec. 4th
Louie Kee Market / Mural Unveiling Celebration
Saturday, December 4, 2010
Louie Kee Market in Fresno
1:00 to 2:30 p.m.
“Let’s make Fresno a better place” is the theme for a new youth mural that stretches across the length of the historic Louie Kee Market at Tulare and B Streets in West Fresno.
After five months of planning, priming, painting and spraying, young artists and community members will put the finishing touches on a grocery store painting that depicts young people, community pride and well-known Fresno landmarks.
A celebration will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Louie Kee Market (1041 Tulare Street in West Fresno) to glaze the final section of the wall and to unveil the mural. A brief program will recognize youth participants and volunteers and feature a walking tour of the mural.
Louie Kee Market is a family-owned business with more than 87 years of history and service to the residents of West Fresno.
The Know Youth Media, The Muralistics, Youth for Christ and the Youth Engagement Team of Building Healthy Communities are just a few of the youth groups along with many community members that worked together to create the new mural.
The mural is part of a long-term project to promote healthy and positive youth participation in the community, and is made possible by a grant from Building Healthy Communities, an initiative of the California Endowment.
