SAN FRANCISCO--Gov. Jerry Brown has tapped Filipino American Mona Pasquil, a longtime Democratic political operative, as appointments secretary to oversee whom he appoints to fill California’s vast bureaucracy. Brown has been slow to staff his administration, with one full wing of the governor’s office in Sacramento remaining nearly vacant reports the Philippine News.. Pasquil, who served as acting lieutenant governor for parts of 2009 and 2010, will play a critical role in the appointments. A veteran of California politics, she was chief of staff to Lt. Gov. John Garamendi and, after his election to Congress, a political adviser to former Gov. Gray Davis, and a former member of the Democratic National Committee.
