Georgia Senate Approves AZ-Style Immigration Bill
While the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld Monday a stay on the most controversial provisions of Arizona's anti-immigration law SB 1070, the Georgia senate approved its own version of the anti-immigrant law, reports Al Día.
The bill, introduced by Republican Georgia state representative Matt Ramsey, was approved 39 to 17. A similar bill has been approved by a subcommittee in the state assembly, but has not yet gone up for a vote.
If approved, the initiative would allow police to verify the immigration status of anyone they suspect of being undocumented.
