Editor's Note:   Families all over the San Francisco Bay Area who are in critical need will be getting aid through a summer food drive organized by Safeway Northern California stores and six members of the Bay Area Food Banks including Alameda County Community Food Bank, Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties; San Francisco Food Bank; Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano Counties; Napa Valley Food Bank and Redwood Empire Food Bank. During “Upside’s” live newscast last July 12, anchor Odette Keeley spoke to Suzan Bateson, Executive Director of the Alameda County Community Food Bank , who explained how everyone can easily help in this drive which is running until July 24. That’s primarily by purchasing the pre-packed grocery bags of basic and healthy food items worth $10 each containing tuna, peanut butter, cereal, canned vegetables, etc. at their local Safeway stores. A special one-day food drive was also held last Saturday, July 16th in Safeway stores across the region, with support from NBC Bay Area TV, owned by Comcast.

Odette Keeley is host and executive producer of “New America Now”, NAM’s TV show, as well as anchor for NAM segments on “Upside” - both airing on COMCAST Hometown Network - CHN 104 & COMCAST ON DEMAND. “Upside” airs live twice weekly on Tuesday and Thursday nights at 6:30 PM PST.
