Let me think about this for a moment. California residents are being charged huge increases in tuition costs because of rising costs but we have enough money available to provide tuition and scholarship opportunities for people who are here illegally. How is this fair? shouldn't we provide for our citizens before we reach out to those from foreign countries? Especially when they were brought into this country illegally. Said situation we have in our country right now.

I can see why you are angry. I think this is a good step but in the wrong direction. These undocumented youth should absolutely be given the human right of education here in the U.S. but a state like California which has a huge budget crisis should not be the one leading it. The U.S. needs to step up and pass the FEDERAL DREAM Act. This would open doors for undocumented youth ALREADY living here who know America as their ONLY home. If the FEDERAL DREAM Act passed these youth would eventually end up paying taxes, like the rest of us Americans. They will end up funding their own dream and we will gain useful, insightful citizens. I pray that Americans realize that these youth truly feel that America is their only home....They grew up here, went to school here, listen to our music, eat our food, labor for us. They're practically Americans already. Why should the lack of a stupid piece of paper that reads "Social Security" be the deterrent to all of their dreams?

Undocumented students pay the same tuition as California residents. Allowing them to access privately funded scholarships is not easy money granted to them, they too must qualify for these. Oh, and not all undocumented students come from Mexico.

That is the problem with the American people, they are so selfish and ready to judge when in reality they were the FIRST IMMIGRANTS who came to this land. If you want to talk about being illegal look at yourself. Most of these illegals comming from Mexico have usually been brough very young and do not have a say. Their parents are only wanting to make a better life for their kids. Why is this so wrong? We are a family of three who rent a home for $1,400 a month. I don't know which planet you live on because we don't get any welfare or social security. We work our butts off and pay taxes. Some of you anti immigrant people disgust me... There are many illegal people working they're butts off with 2 or more minimum wage jobs just to maintain they're family! There are hardworking teenagers who just want to have a better life then they did in they're country! And yes some illegals pay f---king taxes and don't get one dime! And then some us citizens use financial aid to buy cars or other useless expenses(I know many) and that's bull! Instead of taking away from kids that struggle financially trying to get through school without government money because of their legal status, the government should be making sure the money they give to us citizens is not being used in the wrong ways! Everyone should have a right to educate themselves. The anti immigration Americans need to open up their eyes and stopped being self centered! These illegal kids r eligible for Berkeley, Stanford, harvard and other ivy league schools. They are motivated because they see the struggles their families go through everyday!! Unlike those who just have everything handed to them!

Wow I am all for immigration but the hispanic or lation are the firs immigrants who dont want to make themselfes better. I have lived in Los Angeles for 30 years and from one of the best places to live it has turned to gang infested, no body speaks English and they have kids with many different partners. I have seen the Armenians improve they turned glendale in a beautiful city, the Italian Koreans all made themselfes better. But the Hispanic are just making it worse thier biggest accomplishments are gangs and low riders too bad. This is a very sad day for the United States of America. Hard working citizens of this country fighting to stay afloat now have to compete for funding with people that are not and chose not to be citizens. I do not know what is more pathetic: the fact that this law is now in place or the fact that there are people in this country that elected an official that believes this is the right thing to do. I am a compationate, middle of the road individual, a patriot, and now disgusted with the path of this country – our people and our government. Absolutely Horrifying. I worked at UCB and CSULA at the scholarship and internship office and in during my years there, only U.S residents an U.S citizens had access to financial aid and all they had to do was, either just fill out an application or write a lame essay. All the years I worked there, millions of dollars went unclaimed because no one applied. What? yes. Now , don't be telling me that my son and daughter or I have to pay so and so much money and illegals want to take it away from you/us. If you were to search and research there are thousands of scholarships available, internships, that Residents and Citizens are not applying and they are the only ones who qualify for the free financial help. Get your lazy ass and start looking and you will find the help, stop sitting on your damn couch waiting for the help and pointing your finger at a group that only wants to contribute to society. about 13 of U.S citizens do not attend college because they choose not too, why not give those who do like to get an education a chance to prosper to contribute to society. What is it about wanting to get an education that gets people so upset. They are not asking for drugs, or be dependent of mommy and daddy, they are independent who have as many as four jobs, just to pay for their mediocre living and to want to get an education is a crime?
Get educated and let our country be on the top of well educated people. We are not even number 10 on the list of countries with the highest level of education and this is only because of the fact that are own fear of failure do not allow others to succeed. hey!!! this is great news for me and my toddler... once our tourist visas get approved, i have more reason to stay illegally. my child has very high chance to make it big in the US! here in Australia, I have to keep my student visa paying big time tuition fees as an international student and they dont tolerate illegal aliens here. plus i can only work 20 hours (due to visa restrictions) for 2 nights caring for 43 people in an aged-care hostel just by myself at night. this is the american dream I and the rest of the world is waiting for! i dont think this offer is only limited to illegal mexicans, right? i have to let my friends and relatives know of this great news!!! GOD bless us all and Mr. Brown deserves to be seated right next to GOD!

If they are entitled to such money its their fault for not taking advantage of such. if they didnt do well in high school well then thats why they're not getting any scholarships. There are many illegal immigrant students who enroll in the highest level classes because they came here for a better education. I think that americans are just bothered by the fact that immigrants actually appreciate the free education here than actual american kids, so since they have worked for it why not let them have the same opportunities as any other kid that is looking for a better education? I think this is a good step for the better of our society :) because those who do take advantage of the money that is being offered will end up actually graduating for college and contribute to out community unlike a lot american kids who drop out and end up working at fast food restaurants. thank you Brown for approving this.
