CA Dream Act Clears Senate
The first bill, AB 130, signed into law last month, allows undocumented college students access to privately-funded scholarships and grants.
Undocumented students in California qualify for in-state tuition, but are currently banned from accessing public financial aid.
Unlike the federal Development, Relief and Education of Minors (DREAM) Act, the California bills do not provide a path to legalization for undocumented students.

Unbelievable is right!!! They want me to continue to pay taxes. Is that right??? I guess if we don't stand up and fight they will try to make it illegal for citizens to have rights to the grants and financial aid!!!

Unbelievable! Shame on them.

So...I pay my taxes for the undocumented so they can go to school here because they have been here illegally to begin with? They broke the law and get rewarded for this behavior. How about I don't pay my taxes? Do I get a pass, I broke the law? Oh yeah I'm a citizen so I would most likely go to jail for tax evasion. Don't the illegals evade taxes too? This state is driving me crazy. The politicians are all nuts. Lining their own pockets while the citizens suffer daily. I would move out of state but I'm so taxed to death I can't afford it.

This bill gives much more than "whatever is left over after LEGAL residents apply." There are fee (tuition) waivers, other subsidies, and discretionary Board of Governors' decisions. We are being raped. Research to find the current version at the aroundthecapital website as this forum does not allow me to post URLs. http://www.aroundthecapitol.com/Bills/AB_131/20112012/
Get ready for a civil war between states who harbor and abet ILLEGAL ALIENS and those who do not wish to dilute their society, economy, and education with them. When our government and officials openly defy the rule of law, use public funds, and put non-citizens ahead of their own and LEGAL IMMIGRANTS, it is time for a radical change. Revolution anyone?
The people who care to learn more about the madness behind these kinds of issues should research the terms: WHITE GUILT and IDIOT COMPASSION.

yeah you people might say that , citizens pay their taxes, im a citizen too and i have to pay mine, but being a citizen or not, we all have to pay taxes. there is 12+million immigrants and still rising in the united states, so if there is millions of dollars being given by immigrants each year i think that is the minimum that the government could do for students that are following an american dream and that in some future help our eonomy...immigrants pay their taxes so that citizens live off welfare/unemployment.......i think that all those dreamers should be given a chance to achieve their goals, and ignore all the close and ignorant people that are against off it. i wonder if the united states economy could sustain itself without immigrants and also immigrant labor, take a second and turn your brains on.

Uhhh learn your history, we were all illegal to begin with!! Don't sound so ignorant! About time they do something right. And for your information a lot of your tax money goes to budget the salary of those top congress people who sit on their ass all day and do nothing, as well as waging wars. There is a whole lot you should be angry about other than getting people educated!!!

In better times I would be for this, and I have every sympathy towards undocumented college students. But no one is helping me pay my bills. I have a healthcare premium that's using up more than 50% of my monthly income. But no one is helping me pay that. I will probably lose it.
But I get to pay towards someone who isn't even a citizen of the US to go to college?!
In case you don't know it, "state-funded financial aid" is not some nice magical pot of gold the State creates. It comes from me and you. It comes out of our pockets.
This has got to stop!
