In his ambitious first feature film, writer-director Rashaad Ernesto Green tackles a range of subjects, each of which alone could be considered controversial: crime and punishment, the struggle of immigration, homophobia, and transexualism.

Gun Hill Road
is a fast-paced drama about one family in the Bronx and how things fall apart when the head of the household disappears in the prison system, even if it's just a few years.  Writer-director Green spoke with New America Now Host Shirin Sadeghi.
