Editor's Note: Gordon, 17, is a high school student living in San Francisco's Tenderloin District with his family. They have received food stamps and have taken advantage of Section 8 rental assistance and reduced lunch programs, but Gordon doesn't feel poor. Two of his older siblings are in college and Gordon is struggling with the idea of following them.
