LOS ANGELES -- A group of African-American and Latino activists in Los Angeles left for Alabama last night to participate in the 50-mile march from Selma to Montgomery, an annual tradition in commemoration of the 1965 march. In Alabama, the activists will join in the three-day demonstrations against Alabama's anti-immigrant law HB 56.

The Alabama march and protests will take place from Wednesday to Friday, while in Los Angeles and other cities activists will hold protests on March 8 as part of International Women's Day.

Luz Diaz, 45, was one of 12 people who boarded the plane last night.
