Miss. House Passes Anti-Immigration Bill

Mississippi House members voted 70-47 in favor of anti-immigration bill House Bill 488, which now heads to the Senate. The bill passed after midnight Thursday after House Republicans removed several controversial provisions from the legislation that would have required schools to track undocumented immigrant students; allowed police to question people about their immigration status during routine traffic stops; and allowed utility companies to deny undocumented immigrants access to power, water and other basic services. Several other provisions of the bill were removed in committee last month, including a provision that would have allowed police to arrest people for not carrying identification.

This story should read "house passes anti-Illegal alien bill" not anti immigrant bill.
