Hundreds Protest SB 1070 in Phoenix

PHOENIX -- More than 300 people took to the streets in Phoenix to protest Arizona's immigration law SB 1070 on Wednesday, as the U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments in the case. Ramona, a 67-year-old housecleaner who joined the march, has felt the effects of SB 1070 on her own family. Frightened by the law and the escalating anti-immigrant climate in Arizona, Ramona's daughter fled back to Mexico with her children.

The demonstration was organized by members of the PUENTE Movement and other organizations of different faiths and cultures. All had the same goal of eliminating fear and racism and pressuring the federal government to solve the problem of outdated immigration laws.
