WASHINGTON -- The fate of Arizona’s immigration law is back in the hands of U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton, who today is hearing a new challenge to block the controversial “show me your papers” provision that the Supreme Court upheld in June.

Judge Bolton will hear from civil rights groups that are arguing that the provision promotes racial profiling. They are requesting a preliminary injunction to block Section 2(B) of SB 1070 and another provision that bans the harboring and transporting of undocumented immigrants.

The coalition includes the American Civil Liberties Union, the National Immigration Law Center, the Asian Pacific American Legal Center, and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
