DEARBORN, Mich.-- Marianna Kay Siblani, the executive editor of The Arab American News for the last 28 years passed away Wednesday, after a long, aggressive battle with Stage 4 breast cancer, reports The Arab American News. During her time at The Arab American News, one of the nation's largest bilingual Arab-American weekly newspapers, founded in 1984 and headquartered in Dearborn, Michigan, she was a powerful voice and an advocate for Arab and Muslim Americans on local and national issues.

"Kay stood by the newspaper and braved financial hardship, along with long working hours. She worked hard with a steadfast and complete dedication to the Arab cause even though she didn't have a drop of Arab blood in her veins," writes The Arab American News. She was also selected for a New America Media National Fellowship on aging in 2010 for her outstanding coverage of Arabs and Muslims.

Kay is survived by her mother Anna Leota Kendall, her daughter Michelle, her brothers Kenny and Keith, her sister Kathy, and three grandchildren Brittany, Jackie and Alexandria.
