NAM Briefing for Ethnic Media Journalists

What: California’s current school funding system has been variously described as “irrational,” “ineffective” and “inequitable.” Looking to address the issue, Gov. Jerry Brown in January announced his plan for a Local Control Funding Formula, which calls for redirecting dollars toward districts with higher numbers of special needs students, including English Language Learners and those from low-income households. With the debate heating up as we head toward the final budget deadline in July, NAM will be hosting a briefing for ethnic media journalists on how the formula will impact your communities.
