Illinois to Grant Driver's Licenses to Undocumented Immigrants

Undocumented immigrants living in the state of Illinois will be able to apply for driver's licenses beginning in December. Supporters say the new law, passed by the State Assembly earlier this year, will save money and increase safety on the roads. An estimated 250,000 undocumented immigrants in the state are expected to apply for driver's licenses in the next two years. California recently approved similar licenses, but won't start issuing them until late 2014.
