Less than 24 hours before new Texas abortion restrictions were set to go into effect, a federal judge ruled the restrictions unconstitutional. District Judge Lee Yeakel found that the regulations requiring doctors to have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital violated the U.S. Constitution by creating an undue obstacle to women seeking an abortion. As a result of the ruling, dozens of abortion clinics in the state that would have been forced to cease operations Tuesday will remain open.
