Prominent evangelist Myles Munroe and his wife, Ruth, were killed Sunday with seven others when a private jet crashed in the Bahamas.

CNN reported the Lear 36 Executive Jet had left Nassau and was attempting to land at the Freeport Ship Yard, where it hit a crane before crashing into a nearby "junk site," police said.

Munroe and his entourage were en route to Grand Bahama for the annual Global Leadership Forum. The event will proceed as scheduled, according to the ministry's Facebook page.

Grand Bahama is about 70 miles east of Florida. The Royal Bahamas Police Force is handling the crash investigation, a police spokesman told CNN.
